Privacy Policy

Milton Recovery Centers (“we,” “our,” or “us”) built the Milton Nation Alumni App to support alumni of our recovery programs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

We take your privacy seriously. This app is designed exclusively for Milton Recovery Centers alumni and staff. Your data is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used for any purpose outside of supporting your recovery journey.

I. Information We Collect

When you create an account and use the app, we collect:

  • Account information: Full name, email address, phone number
  • Recovery information: Sobriety date, discharge date, recovery program type
  • Profile information: Username, profile photo (if you choose to add one)
  • Content you create: Posts, comments, and chat messages you send within the app
  • App activity: Meeting RSVPs, badges earned, sobriety milestones
  • Location (optional): Used only to find nearby AA/NA meetings — only when you use the Nearby Meetings feature and only with your permission
  • Device information: Device token for push notifications (only if you enable notifications)

II. How  We Use Your Information

  • Verify your identity and authenticate your login via SMS verification code.
  • Display your profile and activity within the app community.
  • Send push notifications about community activity (only if you opt in).
  • Find AA/NA meetings near your current location (only when you request it).
  • Track sobriety milestones and award badges.
  • Enable chat and community features with other members.
  • Allow admins and staff to manage the community and provide support.

III. SMS Verification

When you log in, we send a one-time verification code (OTP) to your phone number via SMS. This is used for two-factor authentication to protect your account. SMS messages are sent through Twilio, a trusted third-party SMS provider. Twilio receives only your phone number for the purpose of delivering the verification code. Verification codes expire after 60 seconds and are never stored in plain text.

IV. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

Twilio: Your phone number is shared with Twilio solely to deliver SMS verification codes.

Supabase: Our database and authentication provider stores your account data securely in the United States.

Milton Recovery Centers Staff: Authorized staff and administrators can view member profiles to provide support and manage the community.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our members.

Your recovery-related information (sobriety date, program type) is never shared with insurance companies, employers, or any third party.

V. Data Security

We protect your data using industry-standard security practices:

  • All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • All data is encrypted at rest in our Supabase database
  • Passwords are never stored — we use Supabase Auth with secure hashing
  • SMS verification codes are hashed (SHA-256) before storage and auto-deleted after use
  • Row-level security policies ensure users can only access their own data
  • Audit logs record all admin actions for accountability

VI. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information stored in the app.
  • Correct inaccurate information by updating your profile.
  • Delete your account and all associated data.
  • Opt out of push notifications at any time in your device settings.
  • Withdraw location access at any time in your device settings.
  • Download a copy of your data using the “Download My Data” option in the app Settings.

To request deletion of your account and all associated data, email us at admissions@miltonrecovery.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

VII. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Posts and messages you create are retained to maintain community continuity. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed within 30 days. Some information may be retained in anonymized form for aggregate reporting.

VIII. Children’s Privacy

The Milton Nation Alumni App is intended for adults (18+) who are alumni of Milton Recovery Centers programs. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

IX. Push Notifications

We may send push notifications about community activity, announcements, and meeting reminders. You can enable or disable notifications at any time in your iPhone Settings → Notifications → Milton Nation. You can also manage notification preferences within the app under Settings.

X. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
